Celebrate 100 years of one of the most recognisable and spectacular compositions ever!
Strauss’ Serenade for Winds begins the evening, with an unusual set up for the LGSO featuring just 13 instruments from the orchestra. Debussy’s La Mer follows, taking you on a true musical journey across the ocean, before departing for the depths of space with Holst’s The Planets.
The Planets debuted just over 100 years ago, and has gone on to become one of the most popular, recognised, played and influential pieces ever. Holst’s representation of the planets in their astrological setting has defined a century of orchestral music, and even provided a key theme for the Star Wars soundtracks. Don't miss this chance to experience the full work live.
